The Daily News

 This is a fast turnaround.

I began writing this morning's DN right after I launched yesterday's.

I had a few issues with my laptop. In fact, my laptop wouldn't even let me in to do this.

I had to unclog that drain, clean it all out, and wipe it all clean.

It took me a bit, but I got it done.

Fortunately, I'm like a doctor; I'm more successful when I have a lot of patience.

 I'll never do that again. EV-er. <mouths "EV-er>.

I wrote it while helping take care of the babies.

I came out with a whole bunch of snobby, Englishy things. The entire piece came off as snooty.

If anything can turn you away from being snooty, it is taking care of pretty babies.

The irony is this: I often find it difficult to get a good picture of those babies. I absolutely adore and cherish them. I got off subject, but I have a right.

I think it's a G-pa thing. Both babies hold on to my fingers for dear life when I feed them. If not my fingers, they love grabbing on to my hoody tie. SO gangsta.

 And cute beyond cute.

So peaceful. And not the least bit snooty.

Yesterday each time I would see a good picture, they would turn their heads, or we would have the lights low, or other mini-interruptions. At the end of the night, I always think, "I didn't get a picture of the girls!

I'll try to get some later today when I go over.

I would love to promise you new pictures tomorrow,  but I have tried to stay away from promising anything these days.

Right now, I'm appreciating these moments.

Moving On, Part One: I feel like I'm trying to start a campfire at a wet campground in December. I know Boy Scouts who can do that. I'm not used to writing this nonsense back-to-back.

 I consider myself a writer. Self-proclaimed.

One thing that almost killed me yesterday was when I thought I had deleted my G-mail account. Not only did I feel I deleted things going back to 2011, I thought I had lost all of the writing lessons I gave between September and November. Here is a reminder of those lessons, and how I crafted them:

The writing lessons came from some great books: Stephen King's On Writing, Strunk and White's The Elements of Style, Warriner's English Grammar and Composition, Fourth Course (which you can still get on Amazon) and a really fun book called Writing Tools.

I used a ton of other authors, but these four books carried most of the information. I used and posted a lot from Writing Tools, but forgot until last week that I got the book as a gift from my old friend and confidante Trinh Le. In a catch-up session, I was telling her about the writing lessons and all, and about the book Writing Tools.  She broke into a huge smile and said, "I gave you that book!" I felt bad, but she was awesome about it, and was glad I put it to good use. She uses it in her own professional writing, so that was a fun meeting of the minds.

I thought it would be a nice thing to post these resources before Christmas. If you are interested in getting better at writing, these are the books. Most authors will tell you that. And take time to graze through some of my September-November lessons. I borrowed ideas from many famous authors. Read them before I accidentally delete them!

In all seriousness, I don't consider myself an author, even though I have written this stuff for nineteen years. The end of this school year marks the end of my twentieth.

I'm still learning. It never stops. Fun hobby, writing is.

Rough on the inner arm and carpal area.

 Especially doing these back-to-back.

So I think I'll try to land this thing on pointe.

I need a definite break from it.

The DN will go to Christmas vacation, whenever that begins, then it will return when school goes back.

I still shake my head that I thought I had deleted it. Caitlin reassured me yesterday, saying, "You can't just delete an account, Dad. They make sure you have to go through several different things before it gets deleted. They aren't stupid." Not her direct quote, but what I will call "words to the affect," always a great cop-out.

 Anyway, I gottago.

 Babies beckon.

 See you again.

 Have a GREAT day.

 Peace.

~H~
