The Daily News

Wow. Wasn't gonna do that to Richard. No. Really. Seesly.

Who knew? Never saw ANY of that coming.

Is it too early to declare Super Bowl  XLIX one of the greatest ever?

I SO expected Seattle to dance to a victory I was ready to bet the house on it.

And I'm not a gamblin' man.

And THEN I saw the second best catch in the history of football happen. How does a guy catch the football with his legs and crotch?

I wanted the Patriots to let them score so they could at least grab a chance to come back. Not gonna lie.

I expected Marshawn Lynch to dance into the end zone and then remain obnoxiously clownish for the remainder of the year.

I expected to see Tom Brady shaking his head, even though he staged a clinic.

What I didn't expect was to see this: Richard Sherman blubbering.

With all due respect, Hawks' fans, that team was obnoxious.

That all came crashing to a halt by a young scamp named Malcolm Butler.

Pete Carroll:  "There's no one to blame but me."

 Do ya think?

You won't get any argument here, nor from the rest of the world. It defies logic, but then Carroll gambles huge, and has all season.

He will be remembered for this one for a lonnnnng time.

 Hubris.

It does rear its ugly head.

Moving On, Part One: My thing with Tom Brady is that I've enjoyed watching his Montana mentality for years. If you are any sort of NFL fan, you probably have a second fave team in the event your team turns stupid, which our Niners did this year.

Traditionally I chose the Pats. I chose Brady for many reasons, but mainly because he's just a cool QB.

And STILL I never saw a Pats victory yesterday. I assumed after that astonishingly lonnnnnng half-time show that Brady was probably ready for Robitussin and a cup of hot soup. Never saw ANY of that comin'.

  And I loved it

  Every astonishing moment.

And my angle on the TV ads?

I retired from reporting on those after a few years. Lousy gig if you're a reporter, which I am not.

Here's the TV ads brought to you by bayareanewsgroup's Chuck Barney:

  Yeesh.

  Still flabbergasted.

Is it too early to declare Super Bowl XLIX one of the greatest ever?

Sometimes sporting events trump everything else in life.

I've so much more to say, but time is all over me like the egg on Richard Sherman's dreds.

  It's okay to hate me.

But at least giggle a bit, and allow some hot oatmeal to splash through your eyes.

It goes well with coffee, and rare happy Mondays.

 Congrats, Pats' fans.

And Tom Brady: MVP. You're a class act. You even gave a nod to Joe.

 And I don't mean Joe-the-Bear.

 I gottago.

  Have a GREAT Monday.

  See you again.

  Peace.
