GLORY!!!
The Daily News
Ah, the Grammy's.
The biggest party I ever almost missed. Glad I didn't, because this year had a lot of soul, and even issues ranging from Black People Matter to the issue of domestic violence. Strong show, WAY strong finish.
Ever find out about something WAY too late?
And YOU'RE a reporter?
Well, in a manner of speaking.
First off, I never was a big fan of celebrity award shows.
More often than not, spectacle and over-tech get featured more than musical talent. Lasers, explosions, gaudiness and macabre costumes tend to dominate.
There was talent all over the place, mind you. I personally loved the Usher/Stevie stuff, but then I'm just an Old Brown Shoe who ironically loves pop.
So...overblown events? I tend to watch them, but sometimes when I watch multi-egos, multi-directors and multi-hype, I find myself viewing them as gauche, and even downright scary. Runaway trains with wide smiles.

Sorry. Think Poe meets Mardi Gras on "E." AnywayZ, I was so busy getting all my retirement crap together that the Grammy's simply slipped my mind. Sue me.
It took me about two weeks to get set up for a sub on Tuesday, when I anticipated getting some sort of gaseous nausea.
I told you I've been loading up on health foods and veggies. TMI.
AnwayZ...Kanye and Kim? Please disappear. There I said it.
Anybody lookin'?
In the midst of all of this, my laptop crashed. It already did a lot of bouncing; that is, letters bounced from on area of the screen to another every fifth word.
Not easy to get anything of substance down here.
Consequently the Grammys swirled around me like some ghastly Renaissance on a speedy Carousel.

Anybody lookin'?
Loves me some mixed metaphors.
I'm glad I'm clean and sober and that I don't take "E" or any such nonsense. Can you begin to imagine?
If you know what's good for you you won't either. This is one I can't wait to see disappear.
Moving On, Part One: Have you seen the Android commercial featuring Roger Miller's "Oo-De-Lally," the sweet 1973 tune that made Disney's Robin Hood bearable? Hopefully I can get that for you right this instant!

I tried embedding. Ah, nope. Screw that.

Wait a sec.
That worked?
I'll be darned.
Last night I was pulling what is left of my hair out trying to put this DN together.
And then the Android commercial, affectionately entitled Friends Furever came on.
Needless to say, when I embedded it, it seemed to work.
Billions of people are able to do this.
I'm not one of them.
Glory.
Wow. THAT worked, and had some honest soul. I'll give it that.
Tough not to be moved, spectacle or no spectacle: sometimes the music moves through our souls.
And 'Murica: Learn from Selma. I haven't seen it nor have I had time.
I have had time to research the assassination of MLK.
Stay on it. History must be straightened out, and maybe that is what was being shouted across 'Murica last night.
If so, then preach.
Glory indeed.
That I liked, and that I'll keep once the flowers and glitter have been swept off the wet carpet.
Moving On, Part Two: I gottago.
Have a GREAT day.
Peace.
