DISNEY LIVE!!!
The Daily News
Kanye West needs to go off on a trip, far, far away.
First, making the same public display of idiocy two times in a row means he is clearly a non-diplomat.
I understand the issues.
Still.
If Kanye West is a spokesperson for art, then he needs a new hat.

M' bad.
First, if you are going to accept awards shows, you don't diss someone who won the award. There's usually a reason someone wins something.
There are times in the year when you can talk quietly and intelligently about misrepresentations, or that you can gather some statistics that show a pattern taking place.
Listen: You don't diss the artist who won.
In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, Kanye, never at a loss for words, had this to say: "You know, it's like people take the Grammys for granted in a way because of the commercials, because a lot of the musicians are very rich and everything, but this is our Super Bowl," he said. "You know, and someone's got to be mad that Marsawn [Lynch] didn't get that ball."
I guess it was then put in Kanye's court, so he had to run with it.
Just go away sir. You are beginning to look really dumb.
Moving On, Part One: Good to see Evgeni Nabokov retiring in a Sharks' uniform last night. The Merc did a nice tribute this morning, especially Josie Lepe's picture on the sports' page, as well as a great article by David Pollak.
The article rocks. Among the highlights were mention of his Rookie of the Year status in 2001, and his legacy of San Jose records, which includes 293 wins, 50 of which were shutouts. Pollak goes on to mention that Nabokov was also the only Sharks' goalie ever to score a goal. Here is the article in its entirety; pretty fun and a salute to a classic Bay Area sports guy:
Thanks Nabby, we won't forget the good times man.
Moving On, Part Two: Disney seems to be in the air lately, never a bad thing. This Saturday, which is Valentine's Day, Symphony Silicon Valley is staging Disney's Fantasia, complete with film and live orchestra, 8 p.m. at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts. They also have a Sunday matinee at 2:15. For reasonably-priced tix, go to this website:
The 2012 Tony Award-winning Newsies hits the glorious Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco Tuesday and runs February 17-March 15, and yes, this is also a Disney production! Call 888-746-1799 or got to this website for more info and tix:
Newsies is a musical about the 1899 newsboy deliverer's strike, and gets the by-lines of some great amazing talent: Alan Menken, Jack Feldman and Harvey Fierstein. Expect ticket prices to be a bit pricey, but by today's standards, tix beginning at $50 isn't so bad.
We are talking the Orpheum here, which can induce a touch of vertigo if you aren't wearing a space helmet, but it is one of my favorite theatres anywhere. I saw Wicked there a few years ago and it was dazzling in that famous house.
And come on people, it's Disney for gawd's sakes.
The Merc did some overtime on this morning's edition, leaving the preview of Newsies in the hands of the venerable Karen D'Souza. Her article begins with the words, "Stop the presses!" and the rest is well researched and amazing.
At the risk of over-linking, here is D'Souza's take on the show:
A highlight of the article comes from Director Jeff Calhoun (Big River, Disney's High School Musical), who had this to say:
"It's a miracle when any show works, and you know, you work just as hard on a flop as on a hit, but every once in a while, you get a show you fall in love with, and then everyone else does, too, and that's 'Newsies.' "
That would be about enough for me.
Lots of fun going on in the wide, wonderful world of performing arts, and Disney-themed!
As sad as it might be, I think I need to duck out of here.
Too much real news.
I gotta tell you, as a hack, I can't handle it.
You can.
I gottago.
I hope you all have a GREAT day today! Disney always makes things better.
More to come.
See you again.
Peace.
~H~
