SHARKS!!!!!!!
Yeesh.
I love big game ones.
You don't have to stand up and scream at the teevee.
You can eat pizza in piece.
You can remember it is garbage night.
Yup.
And that today is Good Frideeeeeee!!!!!!!
I wound up not doing any theatre stuff yesterday.
I wound up hooking up an open mic for a sort of mini-coffee house poetry day.
I had the room looking pretty.
At the end of two of my classes I strapped on my twelve-string, which right now is an eleven string like most twelve-strings, and played Paul Simon's obscure Punky's Dilemma.
Wish I was a Kellogg's Corn Flake, floatin' in my bowl a taken movies...
SUCH an underrated song.
I rushed it because the bell rang in both classes. I just didn't time it properly, but that was because students were going up to the mic and answering answerless questions.
What is faster, K or Z?
Stuff like that.
What color is noise?
What is softer, cotton or a kiss?
They had to line up and answer each.
I played some Miles Davis and Dave Brubeck as a sort of Starbuck's backdrop.
It worked. The students became more and more engaged as the day moved on, because they are officially in Good Frideeeeeee mode.
They have been REALLY stressing, poor kids.
My last class of the way jumped all over each other to get to the mic. They're a pretty passionate class, so I knew THEY would get way into it.
They trouble is they need a big volume knob to calm them down.
I love them. They're a handful, but they all have really sweet souls.
I don't know what I'm going to do with them today. I thought of having them see if they could stay on a rodeo horse for over ten seconds and then write a poem about it.
Anybody lookin'?
Yeesh.
The Kings just scored. Boo.
I KNOW. I KNOW. I jinxed 'em.
Not too worried.
Moving On, Part One: Yesterday I had a hankerin' for a Lee's Sandwich. I haven't had one of those in a bazillion years. A friend of mine told me that he had been going there lately.
So I climbed over to our neighborhood Lee's.
I ordered up and sat down. The place seems to be losing money. The storefront has been cut in half.
The Kings just scored again. Boo.
Excuse me hockey game, but I'm trying to make a point about a sitch that happened at Lee's sandwiches.
Do the Kings have a guy named Suave' Gonad?
Anybody lookin'?
Where was I?
Oh yeah. The Lee's storefront had been cut in half. It does have a large-screen teevee. That's the good news.
The bad news is they didn't have the Giants/Dodgers' game on.
They had Maury checking pregnancy tests. How is THAT schtick still flying?
That guy looks like Mount Rushmore.
I sat and watched anyway, trying to figure out what sort of tip I was going to leave the sandwich guy when I got my sandwich.
Nieme HUGE save.
Back to Lee's.
After some crazy lady on Maury found out her husband was being honest with her, I heard a commotion over at the counter.
The young sandwich guy was yelling at some smaller, older guy with a mop. The younger guy kept getting louder and louder, shouting at the other guy.
He then started punching the guy. I swear to you. He kept saying, "Let's take this outside right now. Right now we'll settle this outside!"
I stood up and moved toward the counter, just to give some proximity. We automatically do that sort of thing at school when we see a hot spot.
It didn't stop the guy. He kept shoving the other guy. Some other guy came out and calmed the guy down, gave me my sandwich and drink.
Once it looked like the situation was under control I booked it.
I almost called the cops but it looked like things had calmed.
AnywayZ...
I think the Sharks are okay.
Good Friday. GREAT Friday.
The Kings just scored again. The second I wrote that.
Am I that bad of a jinx?
BURNS!!! Empty net!!! SCORRRRRRE!!!!
I'll never do that again. I swear. Be still my heart. I just wrote that on Facebook. "Be still my heart."
Anywho, I'll be back in a week! I need serious bedrest and a beach. Have a GREAT Easter.
See you again.
Peace
~H~
