The DN

1  How's this for having no life? I'm watching the replay of yesterday's Giants' home opener.

2  DAYUM! Who's ready for summer?

3  School? What's school?

4  Work?

5   Uh...let's get this straight.

6   It's baseball. It's life. As Kuip said last night, "Get comfortable."

7   All bets are off.

8   And our Giants are off the hook.

9   It might not be sustainable, but right now, it's sustainin'.

10  Suddenly I don't need ice cream and coffee beans. I need first inning home runs.

11  I'm on the brink of forgiving Barry Bonds.

12  How you gonna tell me?

13  Sir Bam Bam didn't suddenly come up with a miracle cure.

14  Good stuff to see.

15   And it looks like Tim Hudson is the real deal. The first words out of his mouth in the post-game were these: "I'm old."

16  Thirty-eight. The guys an old nag ready for the glue factory.

17  Baseball. Kruk. Kuip. Miller. The Yard.

18  Spits.

19  Lou Seal. Yup. I even like the mascot.

20  Amy G.

19  Even though we've had a little pre-season, there's something about the home opener that makes it all real.

20  Life has suddenly turned normal.

21  I'm pretty sure a there would be a lot more insanity had they not invented baseball.

22  I missed the entire first half of the game yesterday so it was a double-treat that it was on last night.

23  S-h-h-h-h. They just did a close-up of Hudson's various pitches, with Krukow explaining them.

24  Hmmmmm.

25  Maybe I won't take up boxing.

26  Pitching is more up my alley.

27  You could still get into fights, but you could just jump into the mix, take a few swings, and then fall down.

28  I used to do that in bars when I was in college.

29  Good thing.

30  But it was right there up in my face last night. Large screen, high-def baseball.

31  Good luck, everybody else.

32  Moving On, Part One: I was about to write about school, but why?

33  I remember days when I could ditch school, go to the ballpark, run into an administrator while vending, and get a nod of approval.

34  It made me a better student, because I was more relaxed, right? Plus I had something on the guy. Good times.

35

36  Anybody lookin'?

37  I'll leave that in.

38  I'm amped.

39  Little back-door sinker.

40  Spring, as they say, has sprung.

41  Let's keep it that way.

43  Moving On, Part Two: Good times, good times.

44  I hope my vendor brothers are making some bank. Some probably just got home and watched the same thing I'm watching.

45  John Arnolfo, if you are listenin', give my best to the vendor dudes. I'm envious. I wouldn't make it through three days anymore, but I must say I miss all of it.

46   The fun thing about working at the ball park is that everyone is into the vibes on Opening Day.

47  I'm in the bottom of the thoid right as I watch and it is REALLY pretty.

48  I'll take that prettiness into the night.

49  Meanwhile, I gottago.

50  Sorry I'm so giddy, but I loves me some baseball.

51  Smile today and know it's bright and fun.

52  See you again.

53  Peace.
~H~
