Say cheese.
It is absolutely no coincidence that Frankenstein was on TCM last night just as I dealt with a monster of my own creation.
I clearly bit off more than I could chew by giving monstrous magazine assignments to all of my students, and having them due tomorrow.
They've had time to get it done, but my trouble is, they all did 'em!
Freshmen had 600 words of essays to turn in, Sophs 900.

Last night I was flying through my third class, knocking this stuff down when I hit a snag.
Happens.
I got out of it, but the hours started to get late, and I was still racing the deadline.
I heard what sounded like a baby crying on the teevee, looked up, and it was the Boris Karloff rolling around on the floor of a dungeon. He was dressed like Herman Munster and appeared wussy.
Wait...first there was...then there was...
GIVE MY CREATION...LIIIIIIIFE!!!
Anybody lookin'?
I'm supposed to be working, but Frankenstein just happened upon little Maria by the lake. Maria was picking daisies, and gave one to the big wuss. He smiled. It truly WAS a kinder, gentler Herman.
Okay, okay, I'll stop now.
I have to get back to my own creation anyway. Frankenstein (I'm calling him that okay?) kept throwing daisies into the lake, and then he threw Maria into the lake. Not a good thing to do in a small village.
I gotta get back to work.
Okay I'm back. Go figure.
My own monster seems to be Blogspot, which is messing with fonts late at night.
I personally don't get it at all, but I go with things.
Moving on, Part One: The DN's for the next few days might look bruised and toe up.
Fear not. End of first grading period.
Always ridiculous to me.
I create the monster each year, perhaps as a precursor to Halloween.
Speaking of which, Virginia, our Activities Director, approached me yesterday about having some of my students tell their ghost stories at an upcoming Halloween/Fright Night sort of evening. Sounds like a lot of fun.
I think that's what I love about teaching. We often have fun on the job. Real stuff.
After Wednesday I should be settling into an easier Fall.
Last year at this time I don't think I was close to this deadline, so for all the exhaustion, it has actually gone pretty smoothly.
We shall see.
We shall see.
Right now it is Monday night and all is well.
Up late grading and working, but I have Golddiggers of 1933 to keep me entertained.
Pretty innocent stuff, even though they tried to make it racy.
It's just show bizz, folks.
Moving on, Part Two: Anybody lookin'?
I wonder if a late-night ice cream is in order?
Nah.
Too full.
Enjoying the peace over these ways.
Won't last.
I still have miles to go before I sleep.
Or miles of sleep to do before I go.
Or...
Nah. I'm done.
You guys have a GREAT Tuesday, if you have to have one.
See you soon.
Peace.
~H~
