The Daily News

Had a lot of fun enjoying sports last night. I'll start nice. I did, in fact, begin this entire piece nicely. Here are the things that were nice; here is my original beginning to today's DN:

It all happened so fast. When did the Giants get so good, particularly the starting pitching staff?

And the Sharks. And the Warriors.

Great times. A's fans need to know that I will root for the A's too. I'd love to see them in the World Series. This year. Hang in there, A's fans. You have Giants' fans who like you.

 Have I left anyone out?

Of course, but as always, I wrote this late.

I wrote it after a long day giving all my love to the garden I'm creating in my back.

I had fun because I got serious and bought a ton of fresh, organic soil for landscaping.

I hauled a bunch of bags to the back yard and had lots of fun.

When I finished, I looked at the yard proudly. It all looked so pristine and pretty. Tons of work and toil, but I like how it came out.

Still,  much more to be done.

I'll take it home later today. I intend to finish the job, and then enjoy the weekend.

It isn't perfect; too early in the season. I should have it all complete by the Fourth of July.

 Proud of it.

There's something about hard work that has its rewards.

It got me late to Sharks' game though. I wasn't at the game, just cleaning up so that I could sit down and enjoy it. The shower was for the ages, and the Sharks could wait while I enjoyed that unique comfort.

 I came out barnyard fresh.

 'Murica.

That's as it should be, no doubt. Clean, muscles aching, but lots of smiles.

All that hauling interrupted my walking schedule, ironically. My iPhone battery was low, so I didn't measure any steps the entire time I hauled the dirt from the TOOOOOONDRA to the middle of the yard.

It's 50 to 60 steps each round trip, and there were 15 of 'em.

 That comes out to...

 My phone's low.

But that, coupled with walking all over looking for stuff amounted easily to one mile, maybe more.

Felt really good, even though I kept trying to watch the games, but while doing a buncha small side chores as well.

My phone had a disappointingly low amount of miles, even though my feet started talking to me.

 I'll get 'em today.

Moving On, Part One: And that's how I began this. Then this happened, which changed everything. Last night I registered to vote. I did it online. I still have to send a few things out, but otherwise, I registered.

The trouble with this particular election is that everybody has gone crazy over it. If someone is voting for Trump, you know immediately. If someone is voting for Hillary, they'll let you know.

The only other viable candidate at this stage, at least in my eyes is Bernie Sanders.

I already ruled out Trump, Cruz, and all the rest of the Republicans for various reasons, not the least of which was that three of them argued in front of the world about penis size. If you voted for LBJ, you wouldn't understand why that is considered unbecoming of a world leader.

Scratch. Kasich? Just...no. He doesn't understand women, gays, or minorities.

 Nope. Didn't register Repub.

I did register as a Democrat. And here is where I will lose lots of friends: after having researched Hillary and Bernie, I spent a few months looking over their characters, their backgrounds, and their history of scandal.

How sad that it came down to that.

My research led me through many websites, as well as to documentaries, interviews, people personally destroyed by Hillary, those sorts of things. I emerged with this conclusion:

I refuse to vote for Hillary Clinton.

Her shady history isn't something that should be blown off with, "Oh, here's another one. You're not going down that old road, are you?"

Well, yes. Indictments, character, cocaine, suspicious murders...funny, nobody I know has those sorts of things following them around. Do you think Donald Trump is going to hold back on attacking her? There's WAY too much there, and enough smoke that Donald Trump will barbecue her publicly.

I've read enough that I've made my decision, and this was after I had liked her, for a stint. Then I went deep, and you don't have to go far to find a pretty insidious person there. Shady bank deals. Drugs. Scandals. And it's not yellow journalism. A lot of it came from perfectly normal witnesses, mainstream news stories, and such. And yes, while many documentaries are over-the-top, some were done with a more intelligent and non-sensationlist approach. Either way, it is major fuel for Donald Trump, a guy who won't hold back. I'm being nice here, and I don't see her winning.

I don't wish to debate it. I don't wish to go back through all my research to defend it. I just saw enough to make me adamantly against Hillary and pro Bernie.

I refuse to debate people or even discuss it at any length, because people are so extreme and nuts about things that it would just turn into a yelling contest. I support Bernie Sanders because he is clearly the best alternative to Trump or Clinton.

If you want to ask me why, I redirect you to yourself. Look up why. It's out there. And nothing Sanders has said or done comes close to the scandals Hillary will need to confront. And yes, she is strong and powerful, but she also owns a lot of the behaviors that mark her long history. Her true character gets attacked with good reason, and quite often. Not what you want to hear, but exactly what Trump will trumpet.

I'm voting for Sanders, pure and simple. He's the only honest one in the bunch.

And I won't argue with you. Understand that. I just thought I should let people know that with genuine research and an open mind, Bernie Sanders becomes the candidate for me. He too is being made by the media to look foolish. Don't buy it. He is every bit as strong as Clinton. And that's why a lot of Hillary people dislike Sanders people.

You may throw rocks. You may attack. I'm done speaking about it because Hillary people won't consider why a Sanders person would vote for Sanders. It is because Hillary has too much scandal following her around. Trump will trounce her. Hillary supporters don't seem to think so.

Bernie Sanders and his followers look nuts to them. You might think about reversing that thought.

Hillary supporters look just as nuts to Sanders' supporters. They just refuse to see it.

I'm not going to campaign, nor put myself in the position of arguing. Understand that. I haven't the time, nor the inclination. I've thought about it long and hard. I'm not going to change my mind at this stage. Nope. I have done the research, and this is where I landed. Chew on that.

And I won't judge Hillary voters. I completely understand why they would like her. She's a successful, powerful woman who has been there. She has an incredible ability to motivate, which she does quite well. She is tremendously strong, and sometimes she is downright scary, all good qualities.

And she knows the White House. She knows exactly what it takes to be President.

Unfortunately, her track record for being associated with massively scandalous things gives me huge pause.

Sad. Because there is nothing I would rather do than be proven wrong. I read and saw plenty. And refuse to go on the defensive. It is the Hillary voters who need to do that.

Sorry. Just putting it out there. I hope we can all remain friends, but I want it clear: I don't wish to discuss it, because I would need to pull out documents, review names, give sources, and all the rest. I have neither the time nor the wherewithal to do all that. I already spent time doing all that.

I don't want to tote a binder around with proof of wrongdoing. Why should I when a lot of it is public anyway?

I wanted to get this out there before the weekend, because next week I will be getting ready to shut the DN down for the last time on May 26 and 27. I don't want a bunch of election chatter getting in the way of that.

I've done this for a long time, and I'll go out on my own terms.

 Gottago.

You do the research. I'll say, "Uh-hum."

 Have a nice weekend.

 We'll see you again.

 Peace.
