The Daily News

I stayed up late the other night to finish writing this, only to change it all up at the last minute.

I'm trying to find a way to blame Hillary.

 Don't ask.

 Icebreaker.

And yesterday I finally got a break from doing nothing but trying to keep up with everybody else on social media, AND helping Caitlin and Helene with the babies.

Good work if you can get it.

The break came between two and three o'clock yesterday afternoon, when they took the babies for a walk. Ironically, I had already gotten up early and taken a long hike, when Helene came in and asked if I would like to take a trip over to a local mall, where we could have her glasses re-adjusted, and then to walk over to Macy's. I instantly gave a resounding, "Yes!"

Why would I like that? The glasses needed to be adjusted anyway, and Macy's is always a good walk for me, since it has absolutely nothing in it of interest. The beauty part: I still log on the miles, or at least the mini-miles.

I can walk through the entire store six or seven times without having to stop and look at something that might interest me.

With the exception of the chemical/perfume smell, I like Macy's. All walking, no buying, and better, no stopping. I must have logged two miles doing that.

As always, Macy's smelled like a French cat house.

For the record, I've never been to a French cat house, but if I had, I'm pretty sure it would have smelled like Macy's, only without the air conditioning.

I leave that one out there for the ages. The bottom line here is that when they wanted to go for a walk later in the afternoon, I decided not to, since I had already logged around six miles, and just wanted to rest, and turn my attention over to the good ol' Daily News

Moving On, Part One: So. Where are we? Ah, the last few weeks of the DN. My first assignment was to push the envelope on that last bit about Macy's and all. Let me tellya, when I start in on French cat houses, I anticipate almost an Alderonean ending to all of this.

Ah, whatevs. People expect a little spice now and again.

And I'm just the guy to provide.

50's movie audience watching 3-D sci fi movies. You had to be there.

 Hey, wait a minute.

 You ARE there.

Notice how much more regimented 3-D audiences used to be:

 It is almost Orwellian.

 Wanna see something deep?

Moving On, Part Two: I stayed up late the other night to finish writing this only to change it all up at the last minute.

 Blame Hillary.

You have no idea how difficult it was to do that picture combo.

Moving On, Part Three, Last Night's Notes on a Ball Game:

Hey Giants' fans! Way you @?

Technically, I didn't end that sentence in a preposition.

Nor did I begin it with the word, "Where." Slow night at the Yard.

"Meanwhile, the hot chocolate guys are runnin' out of steam..."
                                                     --Mike Krukow, bottom of
the eighth, to give you some
                                                  idea of the game's tempo

As Tommy LaSorda once put it, these guys couldn't hit the water if they fell out of a boat.

 Nothing like an early-season slump.

The game last night still had a couple fun moments. A guy proposed to his girlfriend, and it was up on the Jumbo-Tron. She accepted, and was pretty happy when he pulled out a huge rock.

The fans will cheer anyway, but last night they exploded.

That's one mark of a slumping team. The couple waited an inning or two, and then departed to greener pastures. A few fans cheered. A bird flew across the field and hopped up on a pole. It was that sort of game.

And young Steven Okert pitched a great eighth inning, with his family sitting with Larry Behr and company, all cheering him on.

And then he worked a tough ninth then he worked a tough ninth, allowing no runs and striking out his last two batters.

Okert came up through the San Jose Giants, went on to the Sacramento River Cats, and is finally in the Show at ATT, the city I was born in, the one in which I raised a family, and the one I live in now. Here are his pics:

 Nice to see.

I'd love to see him stay with the club and make an enormous difference. He sure got a good start last night.

You can always look perspectively at a baseball season.

Anyone who made it through last night should smile later in the season, because you were there to see this kid's debut.

At least I THINK it was his debut.

 More to come.

So we made it to Wednesday. I like Wednesdays because Caitlin brings the babies over, and we always have fun. I look forward to a fun day.

 You do the same.

And if anything goes awry, blame Hillary.

 I gottago.

Hillary fans will throw heels at me.

 Okay then. I really gottago.

 Have a GREAT day.

 See you again.

 Peace.

~H~
