The Daily News

Haha! Now you know why I have been so secretive lately!

 Mission accomplished.

I know most people who read this might every now and again wonder about my cryptic style.

For one thing, I am thoroughly convinced that the Man is onto me.

The Man knows that I know what he's up to, and I'm exposing lots of it. Political shenanigans, control of the press, all that stuff that has been going on so long that it makes me nostalgic.

What you might not know is that I am also on missions to and fro to find out just what all this secretive baby stuff is.

 You can stop wondering.

We went down to the Bay Area Friday purportedly for some hair-styling. I assume if you know me you know how fussy I am about my do.

Yeah, we did come down for the ladies to do that, and for me maybe to watch old movies and stuff, but the real reason was that yesterday we went over to Kaiser, and yes, the one out there in the Blossom Hill area. Why there? Nicoley's school is close to there, even though I never put it together that given the location, Santa Teresa Kaiser would service both out schools. We just come in two different ways.

Our real mission then: to go into that odd little room where they do ultra-sound in order to look in on Nicoley's baby, and to find some key things out.

I was exhausted from the previous night, but loved every second of it. It fascinated me. Each time I looked at the screen I saw paintings swirling around, almost with the flair of Michelangelo. I kept looking up, and the shapes on the screen seemed like a masterpiece being painted, and I enjoyed that visual.

I saw art, and splendid dancing, and I marveled at how amazing all that technology was.

We joked and laughed, and loved that everything was coming along so well. The gal helping gave us a tour of the different things we were seeing, but all along, I saw all of the world's most famous paintings spinning around on that screen. It was surreal in a way, and at first, I thought it was because we tanked hospital hot chocolates, which of course could have had anything slipped into them...or, we might all have simply been beyond exhausted awaiting this moment. My guess is it is more along that theory, and then...we suddenly all fell silent. Sometimes you just know stuff. Without moving, the nurse spoke.

The nurse said, "Well! That's its..."

The time was 4:21. Nicole said, "Is it...?"

I instinctively pulled out my cell and flipped it to "Notes."

"It's a boy!" she said. She went on to explain all of it, but I had to take some quick notes. Here are my exact notes, for the purposes of historical preservation:

    It's a boy. = ) @ 4:21.
Robin. First name that popped into my head, because                     he's a Goodfellow!

That's not quite as "exact" I had hoped. That smiley emo-ticon, or emoji whatevuh, isn't accurate. I just didn't know last night at 11:49 how to post the one on my phone, and with all due respect, I refused to go on an enormous search. Here is what the real one looked like though:

I tried placing it where it needed to be here, but it kept jumping around, which sort of made me laugh, because it was consistent with what was going on in the artistic ultra-sound: He kept slipping around, and dodging stuff, only this brought all of it back to Earth.

Hmmm. Maybe that tells me a lot already, lol. Nice character trait, from the get-go!

So that is the major news of the day. I think the little guy wants me to get some rest. Convinced of it.

Okay. So check this. The second I wrote the above item, some annoying pop-up happened.

Stuff like that happened all over the place the past two days. It became fun, in a pie-in-the-face-sort of way!

For example, yesterday afternoon I wrote a bit about how I do Cirque du Soliel with the Twinscesses. I was inspired by the Beatles LOVE show that the Cirque does so well. Here is how it is done with Maren and Isla:

I will sing the music to an old song called Flying, from the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour album, and then fly the babies over my head to the a cappella sounds provided by me. Those little beauties always break into elephant smiles.

Well! When I wrote item 25 (above) a couple of days ago, circus music came on the TV right when I stopped. I thought it a terrific coincidence!

It was a juice commercial unrelated to what I was singing, but it included circus music.

It was reasonably late, and I tried capturing it right here, but I kept drifting off to sleep.

It's that whole thing of being at someone else's house and trying to stay coherent on the computer, but it is late, and when you wake up you have all sorts of nonsense scribbled out in some foreign tongue.

I've got a toothbrush and a tiny pick, and I am going through some of those ruins as I re-construct those words right here.

I think I extracted all that I could extract.

The only stuff that was coherently extant was the bit about the elephant smiles, which they were indeed.

The rest was some blather, rubbish about accidentally hitting the caps lock and spelling out, "OH YEAH!" which was nothing more, really than me coming up with the beginning of another sentence.

Oh yeah, and then writing it down.

 Like that.

Instead, when I typed it, it came out in cap locks. I must have just awakened from a brief drift-off and seen those caps yelling at me.

Because I was in a half-dream about Cirque du Soliel and the Beatle's LOVE show, I assumed that I had inadvertently cued up Ringo's drum solo, and the subsequent massive jam that takes place at the end of the Abbey Road album.

You may remember that those first words, OH YEAH!" follow closely with "ALL RIGHT!" <two, three> "ARE YOU GONNA BE IN MY DREAMS TONIGHT?"

And the drum solo, and all the rest.

And I include Her Majesty in that mix.

I then went in search of a Facebook conversation a bunch of us had recently, where someone had posted a mash-up of that jam.

I tried looking for it in all of this, and went practically mental trying. I decided to give up the search, even though I'm certain someone out there has it at his/her fingertips.

Meanwhile, I'm going to take a cue from the brand new child and cut this short. I need sleep, and I will need energy later today.

So, once again congrats to Matt and Nicoley; he looks beautiful, and I can't wait to enjoy all of this.

To the rest of you, I clearly gottago.

Thanks for bearing with me. It is not business as usual, and in this case, the unusual amuses beyond words.

So yeah. I'm pretty sure all of that stuff was pre-determined. But this little guy has clearly requested that I get a little rest. You got my back, pal. Love you, lil' dude.

 So. See you again.

 Have a GREAT day.

 Peace.
~H~
