Happy Monday!!!!!!! Thought I'd start the morning with coffee and another quote about writing from Stephen King.
Well I ain't scared of nothin'! AND I am pleased to announce that I am officially a Windows10 guy.
Trust me, that's saying a LOT.
You're reading something by a guy who got slapped around by Windows 8, one of the most treacherous villains ever to walk the Earth. It took me half a day to find the START button.
At first Windows 10 caused my laptop to act scared, but I watched a few videos prior to bringing it in and liked what I saw. I also had time to read the instructions.
It did manage to usher in the pink error line that seems never to go away, and which seems to haunt the DN on a daily basis.
I'm used to it and I swear to you I will hunt it down and get rid of it, but I keep forgetting to do that.
I've been trying to write all this mumbo in the afternoons, and then edit early, but for the life of me I was much better at writing this when I had morning deadlines.
I HAD to get this out by 7:40 or I would be late for school.
I would go through this nervousness and fear each morning.
Stephen King got it. That's some of the best advice on writing I've ever seen.
I have found over the years that quite often if I simply begin writing, the piece will emerge.
More often than not it works.
This is my twentieth year of throwing this nonsense out there. That's almost impossible to believe.
I have boxloads of old hard copies of original DN's that I keep thinking I could share. Unfortunately, many are chock full of adverbs. I can't get away from those dastardly things.
It's fun because I knew I had to go into this twentieth year of writing this stuff despite the fact that I no longer teach. It's a personal challenge and it keeps my mind alert, for the most part.
Moving On, Part One: Windows 10 just blanked shut and then opened again, like a wide-mouth frog.
Or a Loony Tune.
Ah, again with the horrid analogies!

Anybody lookin'?
It's funny how out of sync I get with this when weekends or holidays roll around.
I get lazy brain.
The older I get the more I seem to get lazy brain.
Yeesh. Don't get old.
Moving On, Part Two: I finally got out to see the real Sacramento on Saturday. I went down "J" Street in search of a couple of Big Lots.
"J" Street is fun because it goes all the way through town. I wanted to visit various Big Lots because I could find unique things that Walmartians wouldn't know about, and still get off on the cheap.
We drove all the way down "J" and then turned right around and headed back, eventually landing in Old Town, walked through all of the historic buildings and eventually had beverages and calamari on the historic Delta King. What follows is a quick tour of our new Old Town digs:
We looked out on the Tower Bridge and watched people flying past us in some wonderful water crafts. It dazzled.
Sometimes it's fun to be a tourist in your own town.
I think my favorite place was this candy store that featured Salt Water Taffy.
Helene wanted the taffy; I didn't think my teeth could handle it. She had a total hankerin' for the stuff so we got some. She ate one and said that it was really fresh and not likely to cause any teeth issues.
Mark another victory for this Old Brown Shoe.
I have officially enjoyed the best Salt Water Taffy on Earth from this candy store called Munchies.
That candy store was so trend it even featured Chicken and Waffles Taffy.
No kidding.
It's weird getting used to a town you think you know, but it's also a lot of fun. Each day I like this place more and more.
Moving On, Part Two: Is Obama randomly changing the name of Mt. Mckinley today?
Man.
What a legacy.
Oh well. I guess.
That's just SO random.
I'm just going to enjoy Monday now that I can.
Moving On, Part the Thoid: I guess that's about all I have for today.
It's a lovely morning, so all you need to do is get through the day. Shouldn't be too tough. Just smile and go in.
I'm rooting for everyone this fine day.
With that, I'm going to bow out.
Have a GREAT day, and we'll see you again.
Peace.
