The Daily News
Happy New Week!!!!!!! It is once again yesterday afternoon. Mad Bum pitched a gem and even knocked one out. GREAT game.
Even if you aren't a Giants' fan, you have to admire a performance like that.
I'm making my last summer hurrah today. Going up to Shasta to visit and enjoy visiting with John, Effie and Kat at their home in Mt. Shasta City. Will be enjoying all of it. We'll also be going up to Ashland to enjoy an afternoon performance of Guys and Dolls, which has received tremendous reviews.
It's funny though, because I still feel I want to stay tuned to what is happening at my schools.
There's plenty to keep me there too. I told people at EV that at some point I would come down and help supervise a dance just to have an excuse to get down there and visit.
And coming up on August 22, I will re-unite with the YB Class of '05, an amazing bunch. Looking WAY forward to that one.
Zo!!!!!!!
Bizzy, bizzy, bizzy!
And I still don't miss teaching.
It's just weird suddenly stopping something you have done forever.
Yeah.
Moving On, Part One: School is officially going on in my own neighborhood and I haven't seen so much activity around here since arriving.
My street is MUCH busier than I would have imagined, but it was fun to see all the kids excited about being back, both here and back in San Jo.
The first day of school last week I could barely drive home the street was so jammed. This happens each day at around 2. So I now try to be out and about during that time.
And within a half hour it is WAY quiet, almost eerily quiet.
On Friday I went to the market at around 5 to pick a few things up, looked at the school parking lot, and there were LOTS of cars. It looked like the teachers and staff were busy organizing rooms, lessons, and making things good for this coming week.
I GET it!
Remember that song Always Something There to Remind Me by Naked Eyes?
Yeah.
Moving On, Part Two: Did you know that the song is a Burt Bacharach/Hal David song?
I'm officially old.

How come I've never felt younger?

Sorry.
I needed that dance.
That's as much dancing as I would care to show you.

I never was much of a dancer.
But I could do a mean cannonball when I was a kid.
It was a dance with the sky.

No but SERIOUSLY.

You're not buyin' it.

Very well.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Okay. Well, here go: a dance with the sky.

Betcha never saw THAT comin'!
Gottago.
Shasta beckons.
More to come.
See you again.
Peace.
