GIANTS WIN GAME ONE!!!

NOTES AND QUOTES:

1   Merc News, P. 11:  "I don't think the layoff had anything to do with tonight. I think what had a lot to do with the ballgame tonight was Madison Bumgarner. He was fantastic."  --Kansas City manager Ned Yost.

2   "At least in one respect, the Giants have learned the formula for winning a World Series game.

Step One: Send pitcher Madison Bumgarner to the mound.

Step Two: Sit back and watch.

Step Three: Shake hands, bump fists and smile after the final out."

He noted the third baseman was in a quiet, mellow mood before the game, save a batting practice show in which he was ripping lasers to all parts of Kauffman Stadium.

 " 'When Pablo's calm and he doesn't talk too much before the game, you gotta be scared,' Blanco said. 'He's going to do it. I like it when he's like that. I always push him and say, "You're the Panda. You're the guy." He likes that and he is unbelievable in this situation.' "
