The Daily News
I spent all of yesterday at home with the babies, with court television on all day.
I officially consider myself a card-carrying nerd.
I'll tellya one thing: I don't ever want to have to go to court.
Many judges are harsh with morons.
I'm also thoroughly aware that I have a definite moronic side to me.
If I ever do wind up in court, I would never want to go on national TV.
One guy on one of the shows yesterday claimed that his life was destroyed by having been dragged into a TV court.
The guy lacked what you call the social skills already, so it was not without a bit of cringe.
I do get a glance at how justice works, so in a way it is a mini civics lesson.
So.
I spent the entire day with those things going as backdrop.
Yet if I went out to the mailbox and found that I had jury duty today, this morning, I would have thrown a hissy fit.
Nothing pulls the rug out from under your life quite like jury duty.
Bleh.
I fear jury duty more than I fear rattlesnakes.
End of rant.
Moving On, Part One: I also managed to stream The Concert for George on You Tube last evening. If you don't know, the Concert for George is a celebration concert for former Beatle George Harrison. It was performed on the first-year anniversary of his passing, and it took place at the Royal Albert Hall, London, England on November 29, 2002. The people who created the event were Harrison's wife, Olivia, their son, Dhani (a dead-ringer for his dad, as well as a musician, singer, guitarist, and minstrel extraordinaire) with musical direction by Eric Clapton and Jeff Lynne, both of whom had played concerts with George, and who knew him well. Profits for the concert were given to an organization founded by George and called the Material World Charitable Foundation.
Moving On, Part Two: Psychic Sidebar: George was born on February 25, 1943. I wondered if there might have been some sort of psychic reason for suddenly deciding the other night to put that on You Tube so that I could sleep...
I claim it was.
One in twelve shot I got the right month.
Not high odds. If I recall, I once began a little league season one for twelve.
I awakened this morning at around four a.m. and again streamed the Concert for George on You Tube. While it is arguably the classiest rock concert in history, I suggest you sample it, and then buy the CD AND the DVD, and then contribute to The Material World Charitable Foundation. Here is a link. And do get the DVD; it is a celebration with deep soul, and the soul of George Harrison. It also breaks your heart. In a good and kind way.
Moving On, Part Three: Other than that, not much to report on this thing today. I awoke this morning and checked my toe for tags. Negative. I may smile and glance out the window at the morning clouds. They look downright damp.
The Concert for George got me thinking about a lot of things. I'm going to go a little serious and sentimental here for a minute: A while back I was diagnosed with a blood clot. With a lot of luck it disappeared. More recently it seemed to come back, and I had to go to the hospital. I remember thinking all sorts of sad things. I prayed like a madman. Fortunately, things turned around, all my vitals were fine, and the next thing I knew I was heading home, appreciating everything a lot more. One thing I came away with was a tremendous sense of spiritualism, and of the very real thought that we all can get to a spiritual place. I have had too many psychic and amazing coincidences not to believe that.
Look into the sky at some time this afternoon and send thoughts and prayers to people going through scary times. I've several dear friends in ill health who need to know they are loved. I'm guessing they know who they are. I want them to know my heart is with them, and will always be. Stay strong, my good friends. And always love, love, love. All you need isn't chocolate. But I'll pop a Dove later today in your honor. You do the same for me.

Moving On, Part Four: Thursdays are hiding-in-the bushes days.
If you've got a job, you know.
Thursdays, particularly Thursdays prior to Super Bowls, are definitely hiding-in-the-bushes days.
Take advantage of the hotshots trying to impress the boss, who I guarantee is already checked out and going fake.
Ha.
The glory of being retired. I can call this stuff out for what it is, but then I don't answer to some gruesome manager who has no concept of 'Murica, the Super Bowl, excuses for ditching work, nor any real nonsense.
He will be the one light in a building you see from the freeway.
Ever been on holiday and driven past those buildings?
Midnight, mind you.
The rest of the world has shut itself down, and there are still hot-shotters busy into the night.
Don't get me wrong: I do believe in a good work ethic.
But people working alone in an office building deep into the night need help.
Took me thirty-some-odd years to realize this.
'Murica.
I could say so much more, but really?
I have known true workers, and people dedicated beyond human capacity to their jobs.
Truth be told, many are my heroes, and I include the wimminz in there big time.
My Dad put that one in me. The work ethic.
I looked at that stuff about looking into an office building at people working alone as a bit of a lark.
I've driven past those buildings amazed that there are people on the planet who worked that hard.
For the record, I was good. But I was never that good.
One light. One entire building.
Uh...nah.
My G-Childrens need me.
No need to be the only light in the building on at 3 a.m. Nobody cares that you're doing that. Tell that job to piss off.
Gottago.
Teach Your Children.
Love you George.
Live Life.
Love life.
See you again.
Have a GREAT day.
Peace.
~H~
