The Daily News
On Baseball, Babies, Elections, Conspiracies,
and the Next Generation.
Okay Giants and fans. Support your team. They just played a game against one of the greatest pitchers in the game, and battled not only an incredible pitching job by Kershaw, but some deliberate harassment by one vindictive umpire.
They're two entirely different issues. Umpire Wilson should be fired. His crap was blatant.
Kershaw pitched a masterpiece.
The rivalry went toe-to-toe with three huge battles. The Dodgers knew it. The Giants knew it.
We mustn't let an amateurish, childish umpire be considered a factor. Sometimes you have to battle that stuff too.
Dodgers and Dodger fans, thanks for a classic battle. We lost, but you know that with these two teams, anything is possible. We'll see you at ATT. Meanwhile, on to Colorado. Note: it should be easier to score runs.
And Wilson: guys like you. I swear. Don't get me going.
That's it on that one. That guy REALLY needed to be called out. It tainted Kershaw's night. And I don't think it has any place in a pennant race.
But he needs to be called out.
Moving On, Part One: Josh posted pics of the twins' room last night. It is even more gorgeous in person. I walked in there last night and they lit up this chandelier that Grammy got and that Brian installed. It is tiny, but gorgeous.
Won't be long, and it has been really nice hanging out with Caitlin and Josh this week. I already love Sacramento and retirement. I feel we're finally settling in after months of getting two houses in order.
Caitlin has been a trouper, btw. She may feel different inside, but her outer self has been beautifully witty, relaxed and really fun.
Twins. Sounds like some sweet snack created by Hostess.
We're going on an outing today, heading up to Roseville.
Every time I travel up that way I am stunned by the beauty of our new surroundings.
We may even head up further, into the Auburn area, which begins a lovely look at the Sierra. Or not. Caitlin mentioned to us this morning that it is just about Labor Day!
Good times.
Moving On, Part Two: I have been remiss in my duties to address the political scene and to try like heck to make mad.
My politics these days come down to this: who is most likely to create the best world for these twins? (Caitlin just texted me, "We will!") right after I wrote that question! She hasn't even READ this yet! Back to today's DN...
While traveling through some of my better news sources, I came upon this tidbit somewhere in all of this, and I think it sums up the upcoming elections:
Politicians and diapers need to be changed often...For the same reason. --Unknown
You gotta love that one!
It came amidst some comments on an amusing article from Whowhatwhy.org, a resource I trust. Here is the entire article:
Teddy says, "Hit the link, not my picture!"

Every time I try to do a link on this thing <puts up fist and shakes it with an Old Brown Shoe 'grrrrrrr!">
Anybody lookin'?
I don't know how to test this link.THAT's how little I know how to use this Blogger thing.
Ah, so what? If you're interested, cut/paste.
Nobody is worse at working a Blog than this geezer.
Ya gotta love the picture though.
Whowhatwhy.org, the above link, was started by an amazing researcher named Russ Baker, most famous for blowing the lid off the Bush Family with his 2009 epic Family of Secrets.
His trouble is he doesn't know how to market the truth, and his sight is filled with really disturbing stories.
His idea was originally to put together a website that has bona-fide journalists who are brave enough to put themselves out there, and to restore that sort of journalism that usually gets bought off, or worse, killed off. Most good journalists respect Baker, because he walks those jungles.
Trying to deal TOO much truth can turn people off, and I think he doesn't quite get that yet.
He doesn't go ballistic like Alex Jones, nor does he spend a lot of time talking about Aliens being the gods of the Bible, as the immensely talented Jim Marrs asserts.
Marrs is the guy who wrote the amazing JFK expose' called Crossfire.
He's folksy and intelligent, but his stuff is WAY beyond mainstream. He also has a lot of connections to the intelligence community.
He and Baker are walking encyclopedias but sometimes get tainted with the "conspiracy theory" epithet, which dooms most any researcher.
Baker is probably a better source these days only because Marrs has gone where no man has ever gone before, which is to say to conventions where guys wear top hats with flowers, where microphones often don't work, and where nut cases abound.
He was once one of the best, and remains so to me in many ways.
Infowars and Alex Jones don't work for me, although much of what they say jives with serious research I have done over the decades.
JFK and the Unspeakable: Why He Died and Why it Matters by James W. Douglass is the best modern book that traces exactly what happened to JFK, and how it is relevant to today's history. It is right up there next to Baker's Family of Secrets, but it is WAY depressing.
Well.
I'll stop there; those are a few of the political researchers who still make sense. They all have their quirks, which comes with the territory.
My rule is to read all sides of issues, consider the sources, research the sources and decide whether the source is owned by someone in power, and all the rest.
How we vote isn't going to change things too much. But I think the future of our children and our grandchildren can no longer be in the hands of people who are corrupt, and who are greedy.
One of my favorite quotes from that article, by the way, was this one:
A politician thinks of the next election; a statesman thinks of the next generation. --James Freeman Clarke
I'd like to thank Russ Baker for his honesty and integrity in seeking the truth, and to contributors Milicent Cranor and Maria Adelmann for that wonderful article entitled 22 Quotes About Elections. Witty and fun, even a tad disturbing, but quite well-written on August 15, 2015.
I think it is time for people to stop yelling at each other and seriously consider what kind of world we are creating for the next generation. Too many people argue and scream; too much propaganda circles everyone's eyes, and not enough people take the time to consider sources of information, nor to consider the other person's opinion without giving it a chance.
It is time to consider and listen, to read and be well informed.
I promise you I'll keep coming back to this fun yet disturbing little article.
But before I leave, I would like to finish today's DN with a wonderful quote by Henry Cate, VII:
The problem with political jokes is they get elected.
Gottago.
See you again.
Peace.
