The DN

  Yeesh.

     What a day.

I thought that yesterday would leave me alone.

    Not gonna lie.

I got slammed with stuff that needed to get done.

Well, I'm pretty sure I did it.

Took me about a bazillion hours.

   Ah, happens.

It is difficult to plan a new lesson. I got myself in a bit too deep.

Friday I had pushed a little too hard on a lesson on Poe's Pit and the Pendulum

I was also trying to get out of the room and head up to Dad's.

I thought of bringing in The Tell-Tale Heart but most students had already read it.

I finally grabbed everything I needed to get up there, and wrote my lesson plan for Monday on the white board.

Here is what it said:  Agenda: All Classes.

No

Moe

Poe.

I thought it was kind of cute.

  Anybody lookin'?

I decided instead to go ahead with my JFK unit.

I went with Jim Garrison's On the Trail of the Assassins

Over the years I avoided Garrison.

The rap on Garrison was that he was a headline-hunter.

  Could be.

I had already made a vocab list.

I'm probably the first teacher in history to put the word "bimbo" on a vocab list.

When you're dealing with mobsters, CIA, FBI, LBJ, oil tycoons, and Bonesmen, you're going to find yourself surrounded by lots of sleazy things.

Interesting that doesn't happen in Julius Caesar.

The trouble with all of it was a) I couldn't remember a lot of the basics, b) many of my key materials went missing, and c) there has been a ton of new info that came out as a result of last year's 50th anniversary of that sad day.

Most of the mainstream stuff remained the same. "Let's hop back on that grassy knoll and see if it is possible for one guy to do all that shooting."

"While highly improbable, there is a chance that..."

Trending up: the driver of the limo did it.

   Seriously? In 2014?

People need to read. The Great 50-Year Silence is no longer golden.

So I'm going in. It is a really depressing topic once you get to the bottom of it.

I'll try to keep it easy on the students.

It is a non-fiction unit so I think the Warren Report works nicely as non-fiction.

I'm not the first to say it.

I am nervous though, because it is an enormous task.

I'll give them the lighter version.

   Bud-Lite.

I made a slight slip though, which lit them all on fire.

   I mentioned the Illuminati.

They jumped all over that one, even surrounded me at the end of class.

   Some say Poe was Illuminati.

    Who knows?

If those rapscallions are truly running the planet, I hope someone gets arrested.

They ask me about 9/11 because I taught about it.

Really soon now we are going to get through this unit and into things to be thankful for.

   Ah, November.

Moving On, Because We All Must: I would once more like to thank everybody for the overwhelming support you have shown to me and my family as we continue on. It is very difficult, especially when we are bargaining for a new contract.

  Yeesh.

   Anyway, I gottago.

Thank you again, in all sincerity.

   See you again.

   Peace.
