Nelson Mandela 1918-2013
Too soon?
And now...the Daily News:
So...Nelson Mandela walks into a bar...sad, sad news, and it got to me late, but it got to me. There are some who shall live forever. He is one of them. Give a thought as you go through your busy day.
So here we go:
Merry Frideeeeeee!!! Welp, I didn't see Neighbor Jim yesterday, but I guarantee he walked the hood in Adidas.
I LOVED yesterday.
I don't really remember yesterday, which is why I loved it.
So I sat down last night, settled in with the ice cream and coffee, and looked up just in time to see a Christmas commercial. It all seemed too soon, too early and yet too much fun not to enjoy.
And why not?
I smiled.
I just smiled.
Moving on, Part One: Last night was garbage night. I have no idea how the much smaller garbage bag disproportionately outweighs the larger recycle bag by what seems a technical knock-out, but it somehow always manages.
I almost threw my back out lifting the garbage bag into the the outside container.
This morning it feels as though I threw my entire closet full of bowling balls away.
Except that I don't bowl.
If I DID have bowling balls to throw out, I wouldn't have tossed them into the garbage in the first place.
I'm pretty darned sure that bowling balls are recyclables.
Not a dumb guy over here.
Moving On, Part Two: We're having a Winterfest today at school. They call it Winterfest so they don't offend anybody.
That's pretty thoughtful.
Christmas.
You can run, but you can't hide.
I love it though.
Even when I tossed my bag of what felt like bowling balls, I stopped for a second and gazed into the winter sky.
All was calm.
Nice season.
The only thing wrong is that I slipped and fell last week and have fought this kink in my shoulder ever since.
It kicked in pretty hard when the weather turned frosty.
Tossing bowling balls away didn't help much.
I have a heating pad on my shoulder. It's throbbing a bit. I look a bit like a question mark in a Santa hat.
Good way to be.
Moving On, Part Three: Last night I remembered that I had drawn a name in our Secret Santa deal at work.
I'm not good at this sort of thing, especially when it has a different set of rules than usual.
We used to choose names for a tacky gift party, but with this one, we were supposed to bring our chosen person one gift each day.
I had to go back through the old emails to see how the rules happened and realized my gift person was supposed to have been getting cheap gifts from me all week.
It's cool. A good jaunt to Walgreen's at nine at night is good for the soul, especially when you are a Secret Santa.
It was brisk, but I'm set. Got some nice baubles and trinkets. Looking forward to Winterfest today. It's fun stuff, and I look forward to it. It goes from 5:30 to around 8:30.
At 6:30 we will have the Winter Concert in the Theater. I'm hoping I can break away and enjoy that along with all the other festivities.
Nice times. Lovely times. But I gotta duck out.
Gottago. Christmas awaits.
Have an awesome weekend.
See you again.
Peace.
