The DN
What Are the Seahawks Scared Of?

  It's FRIDEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

  Anybody lookin'?

  Okay.

  Let's do this.

I wasn't going to watch Am Idol last night but when they shifted the sign from Austin to San Francisco I had to watch.

The Austin auditions had LOTS of guitars.

  New Am Idol trend.

I like it. I like watching people who can strum well. I still learn, often from younger entertainers.

The trouble is that when I get home from work I'm exhausted. It usually has nothing to do with the day, just my new battle with insomnia.

I nap in the late afternoon.

And then I get to sleep later, which usually carries me through the night.

 It works.

Especially in my new role as a 50 First Dates guy.

I'm not sure when that all began. Yesterday afternoon, for example, I napped. On awakening I forgot what I had done in school.

I did okay, but also had a couple of odd moments. My ability to hold back on certain bits and jokes wasn't in check.

I do think I've had trouble adjusting to the re-entry from the holidays. It started rough and has been relentless.

 Good time for a three-day.

Moving On, Part One: Some poor guy on Idol was told he wasn't strong enough and broke down. Tough to watch. I though he was going to go out of the building and jump off a Volvo.

 Whew.

 Is that considered rubbernecking?

I've been at the choosing side of auditions many times, and did so on many Talent Shows over the years.

That always hurt. It hurts to watch. I always wanted every person who auditioned to be able to get out there, but that isn't how it works.

I'm pretty good at predicting which acts are going to go through.

I'm reluctant to commit to reporting too much on American Idol. It isn't sustainable.

I won't commit. Too much talent; too many names. Too fookin' old. Too fookin' young. Too fookin' something.

  I AM rubbernecking.

Moving On, Part Two: Following this guitar slinging dude, Harry Connick, Jr. sang Saving All My Love for You like Strong Bad.

I root for every person who gets up on that ride.

  Scary.

The nice thing is it made me want to pick up my guitar for the second night in a row.

Or to watch a Strong Bad marathon.

Will I forget what I watched last night?

  Already have.

One of the beautiful things about getting a bit older is you realize you have this metaphorical spigot on the back of your head, and you can drain anything you want from your memory.

 With a deliberateness.

William Strunk, Jr. just turned over in his grave.

  Sorry old bean.

Well, looks like it's time to charge into this weekend.

Looking forward to the Niners flying into Seattle and blowing that obnoxious stadium and all their obnoxious fans off the map.

They will let their propensity for making stupid penalties nail them.

Our defense will smother these imposters.

Kap is drooling. So are we all.

  Five rings Seattle. Whatchu got?

You have an awesome weekend, and if you get three days off, enjoy all of them.

  Have a good one.

And GO NINERS!!! I'm more worried about how we're going to beat New England in the Super Bowl than worrying about a bunch of cheating miscreants.

  So LET'S DO THIS!!!

  Peace.

What are the Seahawks scared of?
